Helen and Janice met over 13 years ago whilst working as Visual Artists at the West Cumbrian Charity, Howgill Family Centre. During this time we developed our department, Howgill Arts, from a run of the mill community service to an award winning and highly respected arts organisation.
Whilst at Howgill we worked with some of the most vulnerable families from the deprived communities (both economically and culturally). We were able to build trust and creatively engage & inspire those who would otherwise not have access to a cultural language or opportunities.
Employing engaged practice techniques we have collaborated with a wide range of artists and our projects have been met with great acclaim both locally and nationally.
When the arts department closed in 2017 we were able to concentrate on our freelance work and build on our legacy.
